Maleficent Movie Review

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy.
Director: Robert Stromberg
Cast: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Brenton Thwaites, Sharlto Copley, Juno Temple etc.
Synopsis:From Disney comes Maleficent-the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal-an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom-and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well.
Review:Honestly, this a very good film. I am a big fan of both dark, Gothic- like films, and genuinely great fantasies. This film's a good mix of fantasy and darkness. Angelina Jolie's wonderfully-done performance is what does it for me, as she's remarkable in this films. I love the way she is in it, and to be honest, she's what makes the film "good". The special effects are decently good, and they're rounded off with everything else. Unfortunately, a few things here and there make the film seem somewhat boring, and it lacks on very major things. I'm glad they cast Angelina in the film though; it's as if she was "meant to be" in this film, like, it was compulsory and had to be done.

Good effects, great acting from Jolie and somewhat beautiful scenes of fantasy, but some of the visuals fail, the support actors aren't all that great and the directing's slightly bad, but this film, nonetheless, deserves a 7.5/10. Thanks for reading this short, honest review on the adventure/dark-fantasy film of 2014, that is - "Maleficent".

P.S. a lot of the work and effort put into this film wasn't needed because it fails anyway, I'm just glad Angelina as Maleficent worked well, and that the positivity for her character is out there, not just by fans, but by critics too - that makes everything better, that even the critics agree she makes the film good.
